My Big Bang just started today (9th July 2009). As what we were told on monday, we gathered in front of lecture hall E48B at 5.00pm before we proceed to the stadium and the field. I met new friends there and get to know more of the first year students of Housing, Building and Planning. I also met one of the seniors from the Faculty of Science Chemistry, Hui Fung who guided me when I was quite lost the first day I came here. We chatted for awhile. After that, my friends and I listened to what our seniors had to say before we started to play. We were split into two groups, one group played netball and one group played futsal. I chose to support the futsal team. Therefore, I went to the stadium by bus with my friends.
We reached the stadium at 6.00pm. I saw people playing football in the field and there were also people jogging on the track. In my thought that moment, these people are very determined in keeping fit and they should be my role model as I am not keen in doing exercise all this while. I walk through the tennis court where I can see a lot of students playing. It reminded me of my friend that is excellent in tennis who is studying is United States of America now.
Next, we went to the futsal court to see our seniors and first year HBP schoolmates playing the friendly match. I was not playing because I have never join any sports before. Therefore, I went there to support my friends. The first match was between the seniors and the juniors. Guys started the game. It was a very interesting match as both sides did their very best to win. Then it was the girls turn. Everyone played happily. It was a memorable match as we as first year students did interact with the seniors. I think this activity is the door to our friendship.
Below are the pictures of the guys match and the girls senior team who have won the match.

The second day of my Big Bang, 10th July 2009 started with the opening ceremony at E48B. All of us are wearing the white Big Bang shirt we got in the morning. The Dean of our school made a speech and announced the opening of Big Bang. At 5.30 pm, we went to the stadium to continue the futsal match. After the match, we prepared ourselves for the ice-breaking at night.

At 8.30pm, we gathered at Dataran Merah and we were divided into groups. I was a member of group 12. We had a simple session of knowing our group members and proceeded to the session of producing a sculpture. I get to know my group members and facilitators which are Year 2 seniors. We were asked to create a cheer for our team. After discussing with my group members, we decided to name our group "Collabrate" that has the meaning of cooperation and teamwork. We came out with the idea of folding eight birds and a big love shape. The birds represent our members that came from different places, races and cultures that come to USM to achieve our dreams. This analogy is the same as the big bang theory where we get united here at USM. The love shape represented our sincere hearts. Next, we presented our idea to the seniors and did our cheers. Every team did their best and the competing spirit was very high that time. We ended the night around 12am.

The next day (11th July 2009) started at 10am where we get to do a special module of soft landing. We were given an egg, drinking straws, rafia string newspaper and a plastic bag. We were given two and a half hours to create a model to place the egg inside, in which the egg will not break when fell down from second floor. We started with brainstorming of what we should need to protect the egg. We came out with the idea of using the straws to make a seater for the egg. As for the outer layer, we use newspaper folded into box shape. We used rafia string and the plastic to make a "parachute" for the egg.
My group members coloured the egg using marker pen to increase the strength of the egg. We also add in details to beautify the egg. We started by mending the straws to become something like a carpet. Next we folded newspaper into the shape we wanted and add in design using different colour of marker pen. At last, we tied rafia string and plastic bag to our "jellyfish". We did two attempt to try our product. The egg didn't break.
After the lunch break, we started the soft landing session. All the groups gathered at dataran merah to do the final assessment of our product. Everyone was very anxious to see whether their hard work managed to bring a good outcome. The soft landing started with Group 1. They managed to protect the egg. The group members did their group cheers to support their team. My group did our cheers and the landing of our egg began. The egg landed quite fast but our egg did not break. The mission of PROTECTING THE EGG succeed.

11th July 2009 Saturday night, we had our explorace. Although it was raining, our session continued as our seniors were very dedicated. Our handphones were kept with the seniors, then we were divided into eight groups where we combined two groups into one. We were given instructions on how to play then we started the game. It was very fun finding clues and finding our mission in the eight stations where seniors will trick us before giving us what we wanted. Everyone was in flour and eggs at the end of the night. It was very disgusting but at the same time we enjoyed ourselves. Laughters and jokes were in the air. After 3 hours exploracing, we finally came to an end where Group 6 won the race.
On the last day of my Big Bang (12th July 2009), we gathered at the same old place -- Dataran Merah at 10am. We were given a briefing on the night performance. We were asked to come out with an act or a modeling show of METAMORPHOSIS. In the afternoon, we discussed in groups and practised for the performance. My group came out with the idea of modeling a series of people continuously from baby to death. We edited songs, bought instruments and did a full rehearsal of the show.
At night was
the mask night. We were all dressed nicely according to what we were
going to act that night. Dataran Merah was nicely decorated by our
seniors where we could see candle lights everywhere. The stage was very
artistic. We were all chatting with each other and taking pictures as
it was the most memorable event. Everyone was wearing colourful masks.
we started with the closing speech from the deputy dean Dr. Aldrin.
Then we started our night with the grand dinner. The food were cooked
by our seniors. After dinner, the performance started. There were many
different types of performance including dancing, modeling, acting and
also singing, There were also performance by our seniors. After all
group have presented their performance, it was the prize giving
ceremony. The judges gave away hampers to the winning teams in each
category. They also picked the King and Queen of the night. Faiz won as
King and Farah as Queen of the Mask night. Everyone had a great time.
